Cops: Swanton Family Scammed Store for Mattress
A Swanton family faces criminal charges after it tried to scam a Rent-A-Center store out of a mattress, Vermont State Police said Sunday. Police charged 19-year-old Melinda Quesnel with petit larceny and her parents - Lisa and Doug Greenia - with one count each of possession of stolen property.

Firefighters Battle "Worst Brush Fire This Year"
Fire crews said it's the worst brush fire they'd seen this year and it all started when winds picked up sending a small brush fire out of control.
The brush fire in Essex Junction Vermont destroyed more than three acres of land. It took crews from six different fire departments to put out the flames.
